Tri-Polish Challenge-May #3

Happy Tuesday!
Yesterday was Memorial Day in the USA, so I did a mani in honor of that. The color choices worked out great for it.

I put down a base color of Zoya Elisa (my red choice of the month) and then tried out a stamping image for half moons. I have had this Vivid Lacquer plate for quite a while and hadn't tried the half moons-there are two on plate VL005, as well as a solid one on VL002. I stamped with Zoya Song (my blue choice of the month.)

If you look closely, you can see there are stars in that moon!

After stamping, I outlined the half moon with my silver striper and then put lines out, like a shield.
I really like the way this turned out, more than the alternative which I tried on my thumb, reversing the two colors.

The red didn't show up as well on the blue. Well, probably it fell down when I tried to use the silver striper to fill in the stars. Live and learn, that is why we experiment, right?

Thank you to all who have served their countries, in any capacity. Personally, few of my relatives have been to war. Both grandfathers served stateside in WWII, Dad was stateside Army, hubby Coast Guard, cousin Coast Guard currently. I guess we have just been lucky.

Take a look at what the other Tarts have come up with using their Gray, Red, and Blue polish choices.

Adios!

Tri-Polish Challenge-April 2013-Third Manicure

Welcome, Tarts and Others with Hearts!
Can you believe that this seventh installment of the Tri-Polish Challenge is already here?

For this one I tried my first freehand stripe mani! (Those who know me in real life know that I LOVE new things! Definitely a process knitter!)
I put down a base color coat of the Salon Perfect (I think the name is Light My Fire, but don't quote me on that) and then knowing that Disco Biscuit is a bit sheer, I put down two wider stripes of white (free color!), topping them with the pink.
Next, two stripes of Charla, and then I ended up with the outside stripes in black (another free color!).

I was OK with how it turned out, but I a) have to improve my freehand skills, b) use a smaller brush, c) clean up better, and d) relax! It's art, not science! (And even the science I do at work involves a certain amount of flexibility, chill Liza!)

Now that I have done this once, I can totally see doing it again, but probably in a single color family or on a white background.

Thanks for looking today, and don't forget to check out the other manis shared by Tarts-see the Inlinkz below.

Adios!

Flip Flop February-Day 16

Real quick post this time-somehow the time just slipped away from me!
Day 16! Animal Prints or Stripes!

I hates Animal Prints!
We hateses them, Baggins!

So, I did stripes-although, funnily enough, now that I think about it, there IS an animal involved.
I know, I know, it sure doesn't LOOK like there is an animal involved.
BUT! The brown? It is Enchanted Polish's I Am The Walrus! (Link goes to Llarowe.)
I used as a base Sally Hansen InstaDri In A Flash, then used striping tape and painted over it with Walrus, then pulled the tape off to expose the Flash.

Walrus is ah-may-zing!
I was really really lucky and won the full Beatles set from Enchanted Polish on Facebook!
Lovely and generous!

Check out the other stripe manicures, and I suppose, the animal print ones, too.
People get SO creative!

Adios!
